CBR libraries for Rust
There is no pure-Rust RAR decoder in wide use; both crates wrap C/C++ code:
- unrar binds RARLAB’s UnRAR library, which it compiles from bundled source (needs a C++ compiler, no system library). It reads every RAR version, including RAR5 and encrypted archives. The bundled UnRAR code is under the freeware UnRAR license.
- compress-tools binds the system libarchive. It reads RAR4 and RAR5 (not encrypted) and also ZIP, 7z and TAR with the same functions. BSD/MIT licenses, but you need libarchive installed.
Write converted comics as CBZ with the zip crate.
- compress-tools Read CBR comic book archives in Rust with compress-tools, a libarchive binding: list pages in natural order, extract one page or the cover.
- unrar Read CBR comic book archives in Rust with the unrar crate (RARLAB UnRAR binding): list pages in natural order, read pages, extract the cover.
