JPEG libraries for PHP

• GD is bundled with PHP and available on almost every host: load, resize, rotate and save JPEG with a quality setting and progressive mode. Read Exif with the separate exif extension (exif_read_data). GD doesn’t keep metadata when saving.
• Imagick is the PECL extension for ImageMagick: better resampling, auto-orientation, chroma subsampling, ICC profiles, fast loading of large JPEGs with jpeg:size, and 100+ other formats. Needs ImageMagick installed on the server.
• Intervention Image is a Composer package with a fluent API on top of GD, Imagick or libvips. It auto-orients photos, reads Exif and keeps your code independent of the extension the server has. Popular with Laravel.
