EPS libraries for Python
- Pillow opens EPS files (plain or with a binary preview header) and rasterizes them with Ghostscript at any scale. It also writes raster images as EPS. MIT-CMU.
- Matplotlib saves any figure as EPS with
savefig("plot.eps"): the usual way to get vector charts into LaTeX documents or journal submissions. PSF-based license. - pycairo draws vector graphics and text with cairo and writes a tightly cropped EPS. LGPL-2.1 or MPL-1.1.
For EPS to PDF or SVG with vectors kept, call Ghostscript (-dEPSCrop -sDEVICE=pdfwrite) or Inkscape from Python; Pillow rasterizes.
- Matplotlib Matplotlib saves Python charts as EPS for LaTeX papers and journals. How to save a figure as EPS, crop it tightly, embed TrueType fonts, use LaTeX text.
- Pillow Pillow opens EPS files through Ghostscript and saves images as EPS. How to convert EPS to PNG in Python at high resolution, keep transparency.
- pycairo pycairo is the Python binding of cairo. How to write an EPS file with a tight bounding box, draw shapes, text and images, and produce EPS in memory.
